Disabling UDP via RDP over a VPN

25 Feb

I had issues when using Remote Desktop Gateway with UDP enabled over a VPN.

I disabled UDP on the gateway, but machines that connected direct could have UDP running and it caused the connection to drop out for a couple of seconds every hour or so, which was quite annoying.

The fix was to disable UDP on the thin client machine using this registry entry:

  1. Navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\Client.
  2. Create a DWORD named fClientDisableUDP and assign it a value of .
