Normally, I close my laptop, it goes to sleep, I open it and all is good. However after obviously fiddling with it, because that’s what I do, it seemed to no longer be going to sleep.
From an admin command prompt you can see whats preventing it with “powercfg/ requests”:
Which as it turns out was the “Hey Cortana” feature that I enabled. So you can turn this off manually if you like:
Or via Group Policy as a registry change:
You can turn off Cortana completely if you like (Computer Configuration, Admin Templates, Windows Components, Search, Allow Cortana), but I do find the search very useful, there are a few other policy settings worth checking in there too.
And voila, all sorted.
