Server 2012 R2 DHCP Failover

17 Mar

This has been on my to-do list for quite a while. It’s actually dead easy however:

  1. Assuming you already have a DHCP server setup and working, install the DHCP role on a second server.
  2. Authorise this second DHCP server.
  3. On your original DHCP server, configure failover.
  4. In the setup wizard, select your second DHCP server and you’re done.
