Turn on Auto-hide the Taskbar via GPO

4 Oct

For a specific set of laptops which are used for a single task, I had an issue where one application wouldn’t display without the taskbar being hidden. The resolution was already at the maximum and the machines were heavily locked down so that no changes could be made by the end users, which included no right clicking.

I first backed up the registry item from one of the laptops:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects3\Settings

I then created a new GPO with this entry and modified the existing value from

30000000feffffff02020000030000004e0000002800000000000000d802000056050000000300006000000001000000

to

30000000feffffff03020000030000004e0000002800000000000000d802000056050000000300006000000001000000

Once this was rolled out to all the machines, the next time the user logged in the taskbar would then auto-hide, sorted.
